FAQ

Another Chance 4 Horses purchases horses in need or in danger. We quarantine, rehabilitate, and place them with the following methods:

Forms
1)

Adoption -AC4H retains ownership- horses requiring this form will be marked "Adoption". review form

2)

Transfer of Ownership -AC4H does not retain ownership but protects the horse with an agreement - review form

3)

Special Needs or hard to place horses with $0 fee are listed for free on our website. No waiting for an opening. This allows us to focus on horses in need right now and current owners do not have to wait for an opening in our organization. Also, because the equine doesn't incur any expenses through AC4H we do need to charge a fee to recoup care and keeping costs on hard to place horses. Current owners choose which form they want used with their horse.

Please also see What do we rescue them from?

** We have vet references, farrier references, equine dentist references, personal references and references from adopters.**

Are all horses on the website owned by Another Chance 4 Horses?

No! We assist horses we do not own by acting as intermediaries they include:

1)

Consignment horses privately owned that are looking for homes a donation is given to AC4H's when they find homes through our site.

2)

PMU horses are owned by farmers liquidating their herds because of reductions in the industry.

3)

Kill buyer and broker owned horses - These horses come from a variety of sources (auctions, brokers, killbuyers, ect) and are in the hands of someone who has told us they will send to slaughter, feedlot, auction or otherwise put the horse in danger or kill the horse if we do not intervene. AC4H has no control over the destiny of these equines and only present information that is presented to us. These horses may be pmu's but because we normally cannot trace where they came from and most times they do not have a paper trail.

Always Quarantine New Horses:

Regardless of where or how you transport your new equine friend our advice is to quarantine any new equine friend and always consult a professional veterinarian for assistance and evaluation of any equine problems.

AC4H makes no claims regarding this information it is simply posted as a reference. Always contact your veterinarian regarding your equine friend.

1) Quarantine, Quarantine, Quarantine!
2) Always consult a vet if you have any problems long distance advice from someone who isn't a liscensed professional is wonderful to assist in treatment when providing information to the attending vet - but doesn't take the place of the attending vet.
3) Always start with a mild wormer so the horse isn't bound up with parasites trying to pass causing colic.  Talk to your vet about the proper treatment method
4) To prepare for any new arrival always consult your vet for vaccination and options of protection for your current pets.
