We are not open for therapeutic riding but we do have people who are involved in our rescue who use these horses for therapy and neighbors who do run an excellent therapeutic academy. We also assist therapeutic organizations and families of handicapped children through the Kate McLean Fund. Glenn Schlappich, our general manager, suffered a stroke on December 7th 1993, which left him partially paralyzed on his left side. Glenn was able to return to work in 1995. Then Glenn was stuck by tragedy once again when at work on May 31st 2002 he lost two fingers- one was able to be reattached - however, now they do not have a position open for him. Glenn became severely depressed and had the feeling that there was nothing left for him to do- then he began spending time with the rescue horses and his whole outlook on life brightened. Glenn helped save Cisco- by donating money to help purchase him at an auction where he could have gone to meat buyers- he then began to care for and ride Cisco. Glenn loves spending time at the rescue and with the rescue "therapy horse".
We do however assist therapeutic organizations and families of handicapped children through the Kate McLean Fund.
Horses can offer so much to those with needs, the ability to feel movement, help with balance and just healing.
