We
have been in continuous operation for over a decade. Rescuing and
rehabilitating our beloved equine friends is an incredibly rewarding experience.
However, it is also extremely expensive. In 2004, Another Chance 4 Horses
assisted nearly 1,000 equines in escaping slaughter and our monthly expenses
averaged $3,500.00!!! Intensive care vet bills can be staggering and
normal routine costs in rescue work are financially draining.
Another Chance 4 Horses
is a non-profit 501c(3) incorporation, run
by volunteers- we have no paid staff. It
is only through your contributions
that we can
do what we do. Please help them with your tax deductible donation.

These horses were purchased for slaughter the one that sticks out in the crowd
the cremello gelding was led through his left eye removed and sewn shut due to
unknown reasons that no longer matter... shoes removed they will be slaughtered
in Canada.

This is why we fundraise for euthanasia look at those fetlocks... this horse
raced and entertained many then was used on the road and is now sold for
whatever last few dollars he will bring for slaughter. Contrary to pro
slaughter claims this is not the type of horse that the kill buyers want and he
will not bring much. The horses that bring the most money for slaughter
are the sound, healthy and fat called #1's.

Arabian mare and chestnut stud colt this isn't their first time here they were
reportedly here for the "Ice Cream Sale" but this is the last time they will be
together...
IN THE LAST TEN YEARS MORE THAN 3 MILLION AMERICAN HORSES HAVE BEEN BUTCHERED IN THE U.S. FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION ABROAD. How many horses are slaughtered in the United States each year?
Each year, thousands of horses are slaughtered. In 2005 we saw the highest numbers ever! In addition, many thousands of live horses were transported to Canada and Mexico for slaughter.
Is there a demand for horsemeat?
There is no demand for horsemeat in the US. The largest markets for horsemeat are Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Mexico, and Japan.
ALL THE EQUINE SLAUGHTERHOUSES IN THE UNITED STATES ARE FOREIGN OWNED!
HOW IT'S DONE
THE HORSES SKULLS ARE FRACTURED WITH A RETRACTABLE BOLT!
But, often, even that torturous procedure does not leave them unconscious.
Horses that are supposed to be unconscious at slaughter can be seen writhing -
fully conscious - in terror as a conveyor belt carries them toward a gruesome
death.
THE HORSES ARE HUNG BY THE HEEL AND BLED TO DEATH IN ORDER TO MEET THE USDA GUIDELINES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION!
ALL THIS IS EVEN MORE SHOCKING BECAUSE THE HORSE IS A PET AND COMPANION ANIMAL!
The horse has a status in our society comparable to the dog, cat or other household pet. It is used in racing and as a working animal and is NOT AN AGRICULTURAL COMMODITY!
The pipeline that supplies the slaughterhouses is very clandestine. Typically, when owners give up a horse, they assume it will end up in good hands. But when that animal enters "the market" it goes into a different world, a world of price for pound and auctions, horse traders, and slaughter houses. Always check references of people your selling or giving your horse to and have them sign an agreement that the horse will not be taken to an auction.
