Description of the horse is grey gelding aged (smooth mouth) no tattoo distinguishing markings are that he has melanoma under his tail head and a lump under his throatlatch. His name is now Casper.
(c) Cruelty to animals-
(1) A person commits an offense if he wantonly or cruelly illtreats, overloads, beats, otherwise abuses any animal, or neglects any animal as to which he has a duty of care, whether belonging to himself or otherwise, or abandons any animal, or deprives any animal of necessary sustenance, drink, shelter or veterinary care, or access to clean and sanitary shelter which will protect the animal against inclement weather and preserve the animal's body heat and keep it dry.

New Holland auction officials found a grey horse tied to a horse trailer and abandoned on Monday 9-29-09. The horse was taken to a foster farm and Another Chance 4 Horses, Inc, has contacted the police and filed a report regarding the abandonment.
Abandoning a horse is illegal and prosecutable in many states including Pennsylvania. New Holland Sales Stables wants to make a clear statement that this type of activity and behavior will not be allowed.
