a story about new beginnings....
AC4H always tries to organize an annual save from a sale in Iowa ... this year was no different... the cry for help went out and an article that was in the NY Times copied to show exactly how brutal they were there with the auction owner reporting to have shot 12 horses for being thin!  A lot of the horses and ponies from this auction wind up purchased for slaughter - we found this out many years ago when finding a group of mini's purchased out of the pen with federal slaughter tags on them and our investigation began... after verifying the information we then started saving as many as we could during our annual small horse/pony save from slaughter drive.  This year was extremely successful together with the HRC other rescue's the yahoo groups and the FOB's many lives were saved.  We have had a few losses too... and we have met some wonderful new friends.

One of the lucky lives spared was a mare a hafflinger mare who is approximately 5 years old. She was sponsored, her life spared by a wonderful lady named Michelle Allen :>) aka Mich.  After realizing this mare was pregnant and needing some help with somewhere for her to go to safely foal out and raise her baby we met Terri and Tosha who drove a couple hours to come pick her up and lavish her with love an attention.  She was afraid and had been abused... but now she was learning that not all people are mean and what is love?  Terri and Tosha offered a gentle hand, soft words, love and compassion...  such wonderful people coming together to help those who need another chance... and an additional life was saved - a precious new beginning has started from what was almost the end ....  we celebrate life... his name is Iowa... thank you everyone for making this possible... isn't he precious.

Arrived at AC4H and Terri and Tosha took her home...
 getting a pedicure...

A precious new beginning... they named him "Iowa".
