Slaughter is still an option... they travel from PA to Canada to be slaughtered for human consumption by the hundreds, yet neglect and abuse still happen. People who support slaughter make statements that abuse and neglect happen because the slaughter plants in the US have closed... They aren't related and you cannot slaughter a skinny horse anywhere US or Canada.
Remember Ellie? The pony that was sent to
a slaughter pen? She was too skinny to send to slaughter
so they were going to have her shot. Pictures from the
holding farm below. She
couldn't be sent to slaughter because she was too thin... at least
the owner didn't get paid to neglect her.
AC4H brought her home with help from Judith. She has seen a
certified dentist who said she doesn't have back teeth to chew hay
and you can see her front teeth are nubs. A nutritionalist analyzed
her needs. She was so far gone, so starved that it was imperative
to get her the help she needed immediately. There is no reason for
her to be in this condition. My youngest daughter has a retired
pony that has no back teeth and she is a jelly belly - because she
is properly fed.
Sadie
the buckskin, my youngest daughter's retired pony with no back teeth
is in the back ground left side of this picture you can see the
difference.![]() ![]() ![]() She
is a Gentle babysitter type of pony mare as you can see here as she
is getting attention from Elli and being hand walked for some slow
exercise.
