Another Chance 4 Horses 166 Station Rd., Bernville, PA 19506 or via 1-06 - Dale, who is an 8 yr old Drum Horse mare. She currently has a bad sinus infection and her face is very swollen. She had to have eye surgery 2 years ago for cancer and she continues to be treated for a foot problem that is improving. Dale was surrendered to Another Chance 4 Horses, so she can get continued care because her owners have reached their financial limits. She has an appointment tomorrow 1-04-06 with Willow Creek for the vet to treat her. They will open the infected site by creating a flap and drain the area. There are looking at a cost of anywhere between $600 and $1000. If there is any way you can contribute, please help Dale. Without contributions, care for these horses will not happen Without U there can be no RescUe.
I was able to speak with Quakertown Animal Hospital yesterday and Dr. Bimes
will open the area with a flap and drain the sinus, take a biopsy
and give her antibiotics. They will do this all standing. After the
biopsy reports return, she will probably need to have the area cleaned
out, which will require full sedation, thus leading to the $1500 total
costs for her care.
We appreciate all the donations given to help her already and would
like to offer our thanks to everyone contributing so far. Your
thoughtfulness is appreciated by us all. Once the funds are collected
we can move forward in her care. In the meantime she is on penicillin
and Bute. Good news is that she was able to breathe out that side
yesterday. We are going to be applying for grants and try to
get some radio and tv publicity to raise the needed funds.
Dale is going to Quakertown Vet for surgery on Tues(1-17) morning. We will have her at the facility between 8 and 9am, so keep her in your prayers. She should return back to the barn on Wednesday. It is a sad day...... we received the information regarding the biopsy the vet stated that it appeared to be cancer which has gone into the bone and now to the other side (quick growing) he said we could wait the 48 hours for the results to come back definate but doesn't feel there is anything that can be done to help dale and has recommended that she be put down.
